Welcome
Welcome to Haven Ports Yacht Club (HPYC)
Our Club House is in a retired Light Vessel (LV87) based in the marina of Suffolk Yacht Harbour, Levington on the beautiful River Orwell. We have full bar and eating facilities with an excellent range of delicious food.
We are a friendly Club and are welcoming to new Members and their families and visiting yachtsmen. Please use this form to join us: Membership Application Form 2024.pdf
The Club has an active Cruising section for both sail and power, a successful Racing fleet of Squibs and yachts, with both IRC and Club Handicap fleets. We are always keen to welcome Members with their boats to join in. Our Social events are normally held throughout the year with a focus on the beginning and the end of the sailing season, allowing Members always to keep in touch.
I hope you can find all you need from our website and I look forward to meeting you in the club
Kind Regards
Dot Marsden

How it all started
HPYC evolved with Suffolk Yacht Harbour and although it operates independently, the two remain closely related. The marina was the vision and creation of the late Michael Spear, its chairman (and then President of HPYC). A brief account of its history from the beginning in 1967 may be found on the SYH website.
In 1975 SYH acquired the lightship LV87, retired from duty on the Mid-Barrow and Cromer stations, to become the clubhouse for the newly-formed HPYC, inaugurated in February 1973. The lightship has been constantly improved, both by the voluntary efforts of members and the strong support by SYH, to make it the comfortable clubhouse that we now enjoy. with full bar and catering facilities and accommodation for large functions for both members and visiting clubs.
Facilities and amenities
The club is open throughout the year, apart from a brief closure for maintenance in January. Details can be found under the bar and food opening times.
What we do
The club is very well supported in the region, with an active race calendar, a busy and varied social programme, and organised cruises to destinations near and far.
The racing programme extends from early spring to New Year's Day and offers events ranging from the gentle and gentlemanly (under local handicap) to competitive (under IRC), with several club boats each year flying the flag at Cowes or Cork or EAORA and HHC plus further afield. We have a Squib (keelboat) fleet, over 20 boats now, and a fair amount of family cruisers and offshore racing boats.
Social events are frequent and varied from Fine dining, BBQs, Music evenings and guest speakers to the more formal club events including the annual dinner and dance and of course the occasional party.
There are also a few members who vanish into the blue for a few years and come back a year or two later with several thousand sea miles on the clock and some good tales to tell.
Location
SYH is on the north bank of the Orwell, some three nautical miles upriver from the Port of Felixstowe www.hha.co.uk If arriving by road head for post code IP10 0LN. The clubhouse is moored within SYH, not hard to miss in its proud red livery!
