  • Ipswich Lock Gate Latest News

    Due to early completion of latest scheduled maintenance work, Ipswich Local Notice to Mariners 11/2020 is now withdrawn.  The Prince Phillip Lock at Ipswich will be re-open as per normal entry/exit procedures to all users commencing Wednesday 18 th November 2020. It is likely that a further maintenance period and lock closure will be required in the next few weeks to complete the final scheduled work and I will keep

    Message from Commodore Released 1 November 2020 at 21:15 I am sure that we have all been alarmed at the increasing rates of the virus infections across the country and have watched Saturday's news and Government announcement that all restaurants, bars and clubs have to shut from this Thursday, 5th November for at least a month. Therefore we have no choice but to follow the Government mandate and close

  • Ipswich Lock Closure Notice

    Mariners and Port Users are advised that due to essential works on behalf of ABP, Ipswich Lock will be closed for all vessels during the following period : Thursday 5thNovember from 0600hrs ~ 1400hrs. There is a possibility that works could be completed earlier than expected, please contact Orwell Navigation Service on VHF CH 68 for the latest information.

  • Bill Smith Awarded MBE

    Many congratulations to Bill Smith who has just been awarded an MBE in recognition for his services to sailing. Bill who created the East Anglian School of Sailing many years ago and then was a founder member of EAST which started 25 years ago and is based at SYH.  Bill and his team have taken disabled and visually impaired people of all ages sailing and built the riverside centre, recognised as a Sailability Training Centre of Excellence.
