CLUBHOUSE RE-OPENING!

RE-OPENING OF THE LIGHTSHIP ON 4th JULY.

Great news! With the easing of lockdown measures by the Government it is now possible for our clubhouse to come back to life and it will, on Saturday 4th July. Below you will find the detail on how it will initially operate from Dot Marsden (Rear Commodore House) and to assist/speed up ordering the current food menu is on the website here. Also on the website are some words from your Commodore welcoming you back and thanking those involved, click here.

Introduction

The Covid-19 task group, Flag Officers and General Committee have been working hard over the past few weeks in anticipation of this event.

To allow us to open an extensive risk assessment has been undertaken and the following measures have been put in place. These measures are for everyone’s safety, but will only be effective with your patience, understanding and co-operation.

Social distancing, washing and sanitising your hands are still absolutely essential to prevent the spread of the infection.

Anyone who has been contacted by the track and trace service or who has contact with someone with coronavirus or has symptoms, must not attend until they have completed their isolation period. This includes on the outdoor seating.

Social Distancing

Initially we will be using the upper deck, foredeck and the area outside the harbour room. Work is in progress to be able to use a limited area inside.

There will be no access to the lower deck including the toilets (see “hygiene” below)

There will be a one-way system in operation and only one person is to be served at a time.

Movement around the lightship will be signposted.

The number of members that can be accommodated will regrettably be limited, initially 32.

From Saturday 4th the opening hours are going to be reduced, as below, and the lightship will not be open on Tuesdays (traditionally the quietest of the week):

Lunchtime 12:00-15:00

Evening 18:00-21:00

Under the guidance all members must be seated to minimise movement of people (i.e. no standing in the bar area). A booking system will be in operation. The menu will be advertised in advance. Members must book a table for either a drink or a meal by emailing dining@hpyc.com or phoning 01473 659658 during opening hours. You will receive an acknowledgement for all email bookings.

Hygiene

The areas to be used have been extensively cleaned and a daily enhanced cleaning regime is in operation and highly used contact areas will be wiped down much more often.

As there will is no access to the lower deck facilities, we are asking members and those in their party to use the marina facilities and wash their hands prior to arriving at the entrance, you will be required to use the hand sanitiser positioned outside the entrance door as well.

Hand sanitiser and anti-viral cleaner will be available for members to use in each area.

Places will be not set and cutlery will be issued at time of serving. All sauces condiment’s etc. will be individually packaged.

Protective screens will be in place in the bar area. To reduce the amount of contact with staff a self-collection system is in place. Details will be given on arrival and one the Flag Officers or a Committee member will be on duty initially to help. For example, if a member is ordering at the bar the next member will have so stay clear, near the entrance, until it is safe to approach.

Payment

We will only accept debit or credit card payment, no cash. As before please bring your membership card.

Contact Tracing

On booking the lead member will be required to give a contact number and the number of guests in the party. Should anyone, after visiting the Club, have a positive Covid -19 test, this information will, with their consent, be used to contact other members dining at the time.

All these arrangements are under constant review, further details will be given in the weekly newsletter and on the Club website.

I know these arrangements appear onerous, but they are necessary if we are to get back to a degree of normality. We need to follow the Government guidelines if we are to remain open.

I am sure you will agree, it will be wonderful to be able to enjoy a drink and an excellent meal back on board the lightship and be able to meet up with our friends, even if we are at a distance!

If any member has any concerns regarding the evolving system please do not hesitate to contact me.
